Canada has accepted the role of Chair to the Group of Friends of Corrections in Peace Operations commencing in January 2015 for a period of two years. Correctional Service Canada will lead on this file for the Government of Canada with support from the Department of Global Affairs Canada, particularly Canada’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. This initiative is in line with Canadian values of promoting the rule of law and human rights abroad with a strong emphasis on gender, peace and security initiatives.
