Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SPPS)

Governmental agency sorting under the Ministry of Justice.

Our main tasks are to implement prison and probation sentences, to supervise conditionally released persons, to implement instructions for community service and to carry out pre-sentence investigations in criminal cases.

Internationally we are a strong supporter of the European Union and the United Nations. We deploy correctional officers to peace operations and support penal reform throughout the world. Sweden was the first country to develop a correctional specific pre-deployment training.
