Prison Incident Management Training
In June 2014, the Group of Friends of Corrections participated in a Prison Incident Management Training Development initiative organized by the Jordanian Corrections and Rehabilitation Training Center and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The training pilot was arranged in order to review and amend the prison incident management training material to ensure that it reflects the specific needs of peace operations.
The training program is heavily influenced by the United Nations Prison Incident Management Handbook, which focuses on strategic security concepts important to maintain order and control in a prison. It provides support to correctional personnel deployed to United Nations missions in their efforts to assist national authorities to strengthen security practices in prisons and thereby prevent and manage incidents such as escapes, riots and other disturbances in mission areas.
